Paul was born on July 30, 1938 in Millen, GA to Willie Warren Godbee and Willie Mae Patrick (Godbee). He went to school in Georgia and worked hard on the family farm before following his older brother Willie and moving to Peekskill in 1955.
Paul was a quiet man with a big heart. He wanted more for his family—his whole family. Paul Godbee embodied the three characteristics of an entrepreneur. He created different companies, he built many homes and establishments throughout New York, and he operated these companies with the help of his brothers working alongside him in the Godbee Construction Company. His greatest passions were his family, his love for his god Jehovah, and working with his hands.
He shared the many blessings he had with others. His nickname was "Buddy," and it fit him well. He was a true friend and a loving husband of 62 years to his wife Gladys, whom he married on December 5,1959. They had a good life together.
Paul "Buddy" Godbee is survived by his wife, Gladys and her son Ricky, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his siblings Elizabeth Williams, Mack Godbee, Dwight Godbee, Elease Hunter, Beatrice Mitchell, and Dorothy Willo Godbee as well as a host of nieces and nephews too many to count.
Paul is predeceased by his parents Willie and Willie Mae Godbee, his siblings Willie Godbee, Willie Lee Campbell, Effie Louis, Rosalee Williams, and Larry Godbee
